How auto-update detection works
1. Each chemical can store a Source URL — a direct link to the manufacturer's SDS PDF.
2. When "Check All Now" runs (or the monthly cron fires), we send a quick HEAD request to each URL.
3. If the server's
Last-Modified date is newer than the stored revision date, the chemical is flagged as Needs Review.4. Open the source URL, download the new SDS, and update the revision date in the chemical record.
5. Mark as Reviewed to clear the flag.
